The Hacettepe University Beytepe Pre-School will be hosting 2 volunteers from Italy and Romania in total for the period of 12 months between dates 01.02.2015 – 31.01.2016. Volunteers will play a fundamental role in widening participation and cultural diversity by outreach activities with the children, at the age of between 3,5 and 6. European volunteers will add to work in terms of cultural and linguistic diversity. The project aims to raise volunteers’ awareness of the different cultures by sharing their own skills, abilities and especially their language and culture with the children they will be working with. Moreover, volunteers will be given the opportunity to work creatively and realize his/her own projects which will help them to improve their creativity. Besides, this positive role model of European is particularly important in influencing the children.

– Excellent organization skills would be very helpful.
– Fluent in English
– Strong motivation for the project activities to be organized
– Willing to organize activities for the project and to contribute in the voluntary service
– Willing to show initiative for his/her ideas
– Able to teach respect, cooperation, rsponsibility, tolerance, solidarity and share to the children
– Willing to develop children’s imagination, creative, critical thinking and communication skills
The volunteers will work for 35 hours and 5 days a week. They will have an extra two-day off per month other than weekends. If they do not take their two-day offs in a specific month, they are entitled to take the accumulated leave days in the following months. The volunteers will be accommodated at the student dormitories of the university. They will have a cultural and international experience. Various training methods will be applied for the volunteers to close the culture gap and to promote the mutual understanding and relations so that the volunteers will have the chance to experience intercultural training and personal development. Informal training methods will be commonly applied during our project. The international experience that the
volunteers will gain will be an essential advantage for them when they return to their home countries or when they keep staying in Turkey. The volunteers will be provided Turkish language training to help them learn the Turkish culture and traditions. Short-term trips will be organized by our university in which Erasmus mobility students and the volunteers may involve. Our university also provides culture training and our volunteers may attend those trainings to learn more about the Turkish culture. The volunteers will learn the methods of working with children and develop the pre-school education skills such as children safety and protection. The volunteers will share their own skills, experiences and culture with the children. It would be an opportunity for the volunteers to express themselves and their culture and to find new active methods. As a result, they will be a European role model that will leave positive impacts on children.
Besides, the volunteers will be provided assistance by the working staff of the pre- school. They will be given the opportunity to
work creatively and perform their own projects. It will be possible for them to organize their activities. They will play an important role on the lives of the children.
The volunteer will get involved in the following:
– Attend monthly pre-school visits
– Learn children folktales and stories
– Teach games, folk dances from their culture
– Introduce and perform the handicrafts of their culture, i.e, making puppets and masks
– Actively participate in the conferences and workshops to be organized
– Photograph or videotape the pre-school activities
– Organize ultural and sportive events in open and closed spaces
– Develop different activities including self- improvement and acquiring good habits and support the children on acquiring the
necessary qualities to make the best use of their organsi mind and emotions
– Make video presentations, introduce traditional foods, teach some basic useful phrases in their own language
– Help with the preparation of the activities for the culture festival organized by pre-school children and the volunteers
Ankara is the capital of Turkey and the country’s second largest city after Ýstanbul. It is the center of the Turkish Government, and houses all foreign embassies. It is an important crossroads of trade, strategically located at the center of Turkey’s highway and railway networks, and serves as the marketing center for the surrounding agricultural area.
The project will be realised at Hacettepe University Beytepe Pre-school which is located on the Beytepe campus. It has a capacity of 180 children and about 30 teaching and administrative staff and serves the University’s academic and administrative staff ‘s 3,5-6 year old.
Hacettepe University is very experienced in hosting incoming students. It offers three different dormitories for the volunteers of the project. Two of them are located on the Sihhiye Campus and the other one is on the Beytepe Campus.
The rooms are for two persons. There are student cafeterias on both campuses that provide breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dormitories share fast food cafeterias. Also
there are various eating, shopping and entertainment centers on both campuses. Central heating and 24-hour continuous hot water come standard in all our dormitories. The dormitories are located near sport and
entertainment centers. Additionally the Sihhiye dormitories are just a 20-minute walk away from center of Ankara.
Hacettepe University Beytepe Student House
Room in Beytepe Student Houses, family environment for our students is arranged so that allows you to work in comfort. Each room has a bathroom, toilet, bedroom, library, work desk, a wardrobe and a fridge. Computer and TV locations separated. Further reading and TV rooms in each of our student house hot water supplied, each floor of the open plan kitchen with dining room, ironing and washing and drying machines. In addition, students who continue their education at the graduate level may also benefit from this house
Lump sums for travel costs per country. This cost for both way – 275E/volunteer.
